Jonas Fegert leads the Digital Democracy & Participation research group at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and also serves as a department head at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology. His areas of expertise include societal polarization, disinformation, and e-participation, with a dissertation in information systems that focuses on the use of immersive systems for public participation. Prior he studied political science, governance, and public policy and worked in politics. In his research he utilizes a combination of qualitative and quantitative (experimental) research approaches as well as design science research and AI methods to gain a deeper understanding of how technology can empower citizens and improve governance.
