In Zeiten großer Herausforderungen sollen die Stärke und die Widerstandsfähigkeit unserer Demokratie in den Fokus gestellt und gemeinsam diskutiert werden, wie partizipative Lösungsansätze in Hinblick auf diese Herausforderungen genutzt weerden können. Ein Highlight, das wir als HoP am Abend des 15.09.2023 (ab 18 Uhr) in den Räumen der Triangel organisieren, ist die Podiumsdiskussion „Herausforderungen digitaler Demokratie“.

The research teams behind Assume and Remark projects recently concluded a collaborative workshop aimed at refining their open-source agent-based modelling toolboxes designed for electricity market analysis. Held on [Date], the workshop provided a focused platform for the two teams to share insights, strategies, and innovations, contributing to the principles of open science. The event facilitated an in-depth exchange of ideas and fostered a closer working relationship between the projects, reinforcing their commitment to advancing the field collaboratively.

Kim K. Miskiw erhielt den "Best Poster Award" bei der DTU PES Summer School 2023 in Kopenhagen. In der Summer School über die neuesten Entwicklungen und Anwendungen von AI und OR für Energiesysteme beeindruckte ihr Poster über den Einsatz von Reinforcement Learning in Multi-Agent Strommarktsimulationen die Jury und die Teilnehmer und sie durfte im Rahmen des Awards einen Vortrag vor dem gesamten Publikum halten.

Beim vierten Strukturierten Dialog des Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr hatte das FZI die Gelegenheit sein Projekt VIRTUS zu Formen immersiver Bürger*innenbeteiligung vorzustellen. FZI-Direktor und IISM Professor Dr. Christof Weinhardt und die Koordinatorin des FZI House of Participation Carolin Stein stellen vor Ort Bundesminister Volker Wissing das Forschungsprojekt vor.

Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt wurde bei der Vorstandssitzung der Schroff Stiftung am 19. Juni 2023 in Karlsruhe zum neuen ehrenamtlichen Vorstandmitglied gewählt. Mit dem Professor für Wirtschaftsinformatik am KIT konnte der Vorstand eine Person gewinnen, die sich seit vielen Jahren mit sehr vielfältigen, vor allem auch interdisziplinären Forschungs-, Lehr- und Innovationsprojekten am KIT und in der internationalen akademischen Community einen Namen gemacht hat.

Prof. Dr. Christof Weinhardt wurde vom Senat der RPTU (Rheinland- Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern Landau) für weitere 3 Jahre zum Mitglied ihres externen Forschungsbeirats berufen. Er wird mit seiner Erfahrung und Expertise die Entwicklung der neuen Universität begleiten und entsprechende Impulse für die Hochschulentwicklung im Bereich der Forschung geben.

In cooperation with our partner Commerz Business Consulting (CBC) GmbH, the internal management consultancy of the Commerzbank Group, we are offering a position at the intersection of academia and practice. Join CBC and the human-centered systems lab (h-lab) as a consultant and researcher to carry out a PhD project, work on real-world problems, and join exciting research activities in the field of designing the future of work. The position is embedded into our research topic emotion-adaptive systems with a specific focus on leveraging wearables for better work.

Im März startet das nfdi4Energy Projekt, in dem eine nationale Dateninfrastruktur für die Energiesystemforschung geschaffen werden soll. Das IISM ist mit der Forschungsgruppe Smart Grids and Energy Markets beteiligt. Every year, the Gesellschaft für Energiewissenschaft und Energiepolitik (GEE e.V.) awards a prize in the categories "best dissertation" and "best master's thesis". This year, Dr. Sarah Henni from the IISM-IM research group "Smart Grids and Energy Markets" convinced the jury with her dissertation "Battery Storage in Low-Carbon Energy Systems - Deployment and Data-Driven Operation Systems". In her dissertation, Sarah investigates battery storage requirements in the course of the energy transition and designs operation strategies based on machine learning methods.

In a final in Berlin, Sarah prevailed with her dissertation presentation against two other finalists. We congratulate her on the award!
