Research Interest

I am a researcher specializing in the field of digital democracy, which includes research on social polarization tendencies, analysis and combat of disinformation, and digital citizen participation, such as e-Participation and Digital Citizen Science. I earned my PhD from KIT with Christof Weihnhardt as my supervisor. My dissertation focused on the use of immersive systems, including augmented and virtual reality, for public participation in local politics and urban planning. In my research, I utilize a combination of qualitative and quantitative (experimental) research approaches as well as design science research methods to gain a deeper understanding of how technology can empower citizens and improve governance. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of a more democratic and participatory digital society.

FZI House of Participation

I am the head of the House of Participation (HoP), which is a competence center at FZI that promotes digitial participation and democracy. Our focus is on creating meaningful digital interactions that enable individuals to participate in decision-making across various areas, including the workplace, social life, cultural sector, and political matters. We are always seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our team and contribute to shaping digital democracy. If you are a student looking for an assistant position (Hiwi), a seminar, bachelor or master thesis opportunity, we would love to have you on board. Make sure to check out HoPcast, our podcast that discusses democracy and participation in the digital age.
